Neels Smit is a post production professional with nearly 15 years of experience. From early on he proved himself as a multiple award winning student when he studied at Tshwane University of Technology where he received a Higher Diploma in Film and Video Technology. Soon after graduating he began as video editor in the TV industry. What does an editor do, you may ask? The editor is a creative person who assembles footage and sound into a coherent way to tell the story. This mostly invisible art and language of editing is why people love movies and Neels loves being an editor. Today he works as a freelance video editor from his humble abode in Midrand where he spends many hours glued to a computer screen assembling footage trying his hardest not to play the latest video game. The editing process can be just as much fun - finding that perfect frame to cut, creating that moment. Manipulating time and rhythm. In his career he has edited most forms of media from short corporate productions to long form feature films and everything else in between.Neels also creates visual effects to help better tell the story and use sound design in stereo and surround as part of his arsenal in the post production process.The movie 'Entlik Nogal Baie' is his third feature film as editor. Between his editing time Neels will be writing more screenplays from shorts to a feature or two. In his spare time, he really enjoys writing about himself in the third person.------------I love editing! That final creative process in the long road from script, direction and photography. Shifting through many hours of raw footage - analytical and constructive work - to creating the foundation of the narrative.
