Similar to a CEO, the Thunderbird Student Government (TSG) President position represents the student body to the Thunderbird Community and beyond. As the head executive, they work closely with the Executive Board to manage TSG and consult with Thunderbird’s Dean and administration, regarding issues, concerns, and TSG projects. The position requires leadership skills and the ability to develop those skills in others because it puts the President in contact with key members of the Thunderbird community.1. Chairs the TSG Executive Board (elected officers and selected Director positions as needed) which meets weekly with the administration to address issues concerning the student body, and to obtain information to relay back to students.2. Appoints (in conjunction with the VP and VP of Finance) TSG Director positions through a competitive application process. Oversee Director goals and performance.3. Creates TSG strategy by establishing semester goals in conjunction with the TSG Executive Board, and ensuring that all projects taken up by TSG fulfill those semester goals. Articulates these goals to stakeholders. 4. Facilitates weekly TSG meetings and regular Public Meetings, and reports on the activities as necessary. 5. Represents the full TSG to all Thunderbird administrative, governance, and/or advisory committees, associations, and councils, as well as to the external community in all appropriate situations.6. Advocates for student concerns when speaking with stakeholders such as administration, and alumni. Communicates stakeholder views to the student body. 7. Monitors and reviews the performance of all appointed Board members. If necessary, choose appropriate disciplinary action, including termination for lack of performance, in partnership with the Vice President.8. Monitors and assesses TSG performance providing resources and adjusting strategy when necessary. 9. Works closely with Student Engagement to ensure TSG compliance with the regulation.
