I am an Erasmus Mundus Scholar with a Master’s degree in Geographical Information Systems in Environmental Modelling and Management, which I completed in a consortium of 4 universities across Europe. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from University of Madras. After my master’s degree I wanted to contribute to Rural technology using my expertise, so I joined RTBI (Rural Technology for Business Incubation) in IIT Madras Research Park. From 2011 to 2021 I was in Trichy, Tamil Nādu due to relocation of my spouse, due to which I had to resign my work in RTBI.In Trichy, I took keen interest in natural farming and soil fertility conservation. This journey took an interesting turn as I stopped my dependency on using chemical cleaners and making my own home hygiene products using kitchen scraps and sustainable materials. In 2021, we shifted to Chennai, and I started to make home cleaners as a small business venture(The Canopy Tales, a sustainability store) which I’m still continuing to do in a small way. I have represented IIT Madras as part of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan in July 2021 in CSIR Palampur to make this technology of making toxic free home cleaners as a rural livelihood. I am also a waste management enthusiast; I was part of a 4-member team who was invited by the respective district collectors to educate more than 250 government school teachers in Tiruvallur and Chennai district of Tamil Nādu to educate teachers on source segregation of waste and composting organic waste. I am keen to work on a structured environment to better utilise my skills and capabilities.
