The undulating hills are reminiscent of Montepulciano in Tuscany, the dirty hands of the growers match those of a farmer in Burgundy, the winemaker’s passion for making world-class wine resonates with that of a generations old chateau in Bordeaux, yet the new-world maverick attitude jives with that of Australia… or even Chile. My story is the story of Paso Robles - a fabric of community that cares deeply for its land, its people, and its purpose. In this sea of brave and brilliant minds, being one of the first Indian women to own a winery in the US, comes with a lot of responsibility! I have to answer more questions on Culture than Vintages, on Food than Wine, on Inspirations than Medals.My wine, “LXV”, has its roots in the sixty-four sutras from our vedas - music, dance, architecture, feng shui, et al - that weave the rich fabric of Indian culture. The story of our wine is the 65th sutra. Through wine and food, LXV has opened up the restrained jargon of wine, to a more inclusive and experiential conversation of flavors and senses, through terroir education, Bordeaux tastings, and spice pairings. The estate vineyard, Armaa.N, boasts of practices that are nurturing of the land and its legacy. The unwavering goal for LXV is to create a movement that inspires and heightens moments, and that transcends the personal, business, and community. And my passion finally rests in telling the story of the soil through a delicate balance of tradition and innovation. All of life's experiences have come full circle.
