From being determined to do my degree in social work when I was 14 years old to being sure I would change the world at 21 to discovering the magic in each child in a classroom at 24.From working in the villages of Chhattisgarh to becoming a teacher in Kolkata and Amritsar.From designing learning experiences at riverbanks, forests and monuments to nurturing a school into a learning community in Delhi.From being a social worker to a teacher to evolving into an educator who believes that social justice must be a part of our conversations, our classrooms and our curriculum. This has been my journey thus far. My journey has been one of self-discovery as much as it has been of impact. In the last 20+ years, I have worked with over 100 schools and organisations of different scale and context through diverse learning experiences for hundreds of students and teachers.Since 2017, I have been working independently on projects that resonate with my convictions. I have spent the last few years travelling to schools across the country strengthening school communities through workshops and trainings. About 2 years ago, Mudita Foundation also came into being as a part of the same dream of joy, safety and freedom for every child, in every community. I am grateful to be able to learn and grow through Mudita's journey towards a vision of a world where each individual is living up to their full potential without the fear of abuse, violence and exploitation. I believe in the power of the collective. I believe it critical to build and nurture communities towards collective responsibility that foster a feeling a belongingness and fraternity and hence collective action. It is this collective that then helps each child, each person learn and grow. This is what ensures that no one is left behind. No one is abused. No one exploited. This is the sense of community I hope to inspire and build in the schools, organisations and communities I am able to work with.My core expertise as an educator lies in -- Embedding social justice in the school curriculum and school community- Designing and implementing experiential tools in classrooms and outside- Building critical thinking skills through the curriculum and the classroom- Curation and creation of contextual teaching learning methodology and material for the social sciences- Nurturing perspective, building capacity and mentoring teachers and student leadersI find my own inspiration, courage and joy, in meditation, in stories and in travel.
