In my research studies I have used atleast 12 different types of patient-derived cell lines with varying mutational and drug-resistant status. I have studied the effect of 3 different chemotherapeutic drugs (dacarbazine, Melphalan and doxorubicin) alone and in combination with different forms of a naturally derived milk protein on various markers such as P-glycoprotein, p53, survivin etc. I have expertise in genomics, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, qRT-PCR, immunoprecipitation, immunocytochemistry and immunohistochemistry techniques. I have worked with several types of cancer cells including breast cancer (MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7), ovarian cancer (OVCAR-3), colon cancer (SW-480 and Caco-2) and a range of melanoma cell lines including SK-MEL-2, SK-MEL-28, Mel-007 (drug-resistant cell line), LM-MEL-12, LM-MEL-24, LM-MEL-48, LM-MEL-62, LM-MEL-1a (melanoma cell lines developed by the Olivia-Newton John Institute for Melanoma Research). All these cell lines harbor either BRAF and/or NRAS mutations. Apart from all the in vitro techniques, I have also been extensively trained in handling small animals and have helped carry out animal projects that included xenograft models of breast cancer and colon cancer. I have also been trained to use the in vivo imaging system (IVIS, Perkin Elmer).
