As a science teacher for over a decade, I've dedicated my career to spark curiosity among the learners. There is no denying the fact that curiosity underpins all the research, innovation and technological development in the world around us. A curious learner is an active, motivated and independent learner, which is the key essential for 21st century learning. I started my career as a pharmaceutical research scientist. During these five years in industry, I closely observed the significance of key science skills in real life, which forms the foundation of my teaching goal. I aim to create opportunities for my students to practice science skills. My classroom involves active learning techniques, where students develop and use models, collaborate to analyze and interpret the data, engage in constructive arguments from evidence to synthesize explanations and solutions. With these key skills students can be great scientists, as well as establish a basic understanding of the world around them. Teaching for me is a learning experience, where with every passing day I learn about diverse learning needs, experience new challenges, and experiment with new strategies to re-discover and re-invent my pedagogy. I have been a continuous learner all throughout my life and truly enjoy this self-improvement journey. I earned a master's in education, specialized in curriculum and instruction, am a certified STEM instructor, AP Biology instructor and teacher leader. I recently completed my higher education teaching certificate from Harvard, and earned my QTS from University of Sunderland, UK. I am fortunate to have successfully been able to make differences in the lives of some students, who are doing well in their lives now. I feel blessed and grateful.
