Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager/Program Supervisor, AA’s provides therapeutic games, groups, activities for patient’s leisure time and recreation projects on the acute service inpatient units.1. Assists in the completion of activity assessment on all patients and documents in the clinical record.Documents patient’s response to groups in the clinical record.2. Provides direct activity therapy consistent with social, emotional and developmental functioning of patients.3. Participates as an active member of the interdisciplinary team.4. Assists in maintaining a safe, therapeutic milieu.

1. Participates in providing services that are related to mental health and youth development activities. 2. MHS’s are responsible for being involved in student’s treatment meetings in the classroom setting with their teachers and with the Rutgers School Clinician. 3. Design groups/workshops for Rutgers Clinicians and the school district staff that individually address short-term goals students want to work on each week. 4. Participates in crisis interventions such as: holds, and restraints in order for a student to not be deemed as a safety risk for being a danger to themselves or others. 5. Does provide case management for Rutgers Clinicians and School teachers that are placed in EBD classrooms (Emotional Disturbance & Behavioral Disorder). Students ages are 9 to 10 years old.

Attended 50 hour Confidential Sexual Violence Advocate training to assist in accompanying sexual assault survivors in court proceedings, police departments for documenting sexual assaults, and hospitals for rape kit examinations to collect possible evidence.Assisted survivors in providing emotional support when they felt triggered during intense moments during examinations, court proceedings, and police documentations.Learned various coping skills to help survivors ground themselves when they felt intensely anxious, or were having traumatic flashbacks, and reminders of their trauma and helped them stay in the present moment.

Function as a role model of healthy interpersonal relationships and demonstrates appropriate behavior for patients, family, and staff.Use a nurtured heart approach to provide supervision, behavior management, and counseling of the basic needs for the youth.Will build relationships and assist with developing our adolescence through support of behavior modules.Lead resident group meetings, coordinating recreation activities, and participate in other group functions.

Provide children ages 12-18 years of age with full day behavioral health programming to support a decrease in behavioral symptoms so they can have success in community.
