Main responsibilities: - Installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications.- Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks.- Talking staff / clients through a series of actions, either face to face or over the telephone tohelp set up systems or resolve issues.- Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware / softwarefaults.- Replacing parts as required.- Providing support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports.- Supporting the roll-out of new applications. - Setting up new users' accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues. - Responding within agreed time limits to call-outs. - Working continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate);- Prioritising and managing many open cases at one time.- Rapidly establishing a good working relationship with customers and other professionals.- Testing and evaluating new technology.- Conducting general maintenance pertaining to the IT infrastructure.IT hardware Inventory project:- Responsible for a large scale inventory project were all hardware (IT related) was registered and labeled via QR coded labels using a third party software. - Everything was registered using a handheld scanner.- Depending on the asset, a different identification name was used accordingly. - All equipment was split into groups and sub-groups according to what the hardware is (laptops, docking station, monitors, servers, storage, telephony systems, CCTV system, etc)- All laptops were signed out to their respective user. - All users were registered within the system according to their respective team (IT, Finance, HR, etc).- All teams and users were registered in an identical manner according the our Active Directory (AD). - A new purchasing order (PO) template was created using this software. - All suppliers can be selected separately accordingly when creating a new purchasing order (PO).

My role as an IT trainer was to deliver computer courses, being; ECDL, Lego Robotics 1, Lego Robotics 2, PC Junior Technician and Future Technologies. I delivered lessons to a variety of groups, varying from one-to-one sessions to larger groups of approximately 10 students. Apart from delivering the lessons in the best possible way, one of my main aims was to keep the student focused so as to absorb all the required information at their best advantage.

For the second consecutive year I have completed my Student Placement Pogramme, which was a MITA initiative. During this year I was stationed at the Inland Revenue Department in Floriana. Throughout the eleven weeks of placements, set tasks which needed to be completed, were only possible with the guidance and support of my mentor. A few examples of such tasks may include; trouble shooting large printers followed by configuring them, as well as installing new hard drives and Random-Access-Memory (RAM) to several computers.

Over the summer recess, I was part of the team of the Student Placement Programme which is an initiative developed by MITA. I was stationed at the Auberge de Baviere in Valletta as an employee of the Government Property Department. Throughout the several placements, a few of the tasks which us students were guided through may include; how to crimp patch leads, installing different type of operating systems on laptops and PC’s, configuring the Digital Video Recorder (DVR) to manage the Closed-circuit television (CCTV) system. I believe that my experience at MITA helped me to build on my level of confidence in the IT industry, especially when forming part of a team.
