Trial attorney with over 30 years experience defending complex litigation matters, including pharmaceutical and toxic tort products liability cases. I led the defense of mass tort litigation in New Jersey involving a pharmaceutical company’s cancer therapy, resulting in dozens of summary judgment wins, voluntary dismissals and ultimately favorable resolution of all cases. As part of that litigation, I secured defense verdicts for Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation in the first and second bellwether cases chosen for trial in New Jersey litigation over the drugs Aredia® and Zometa®. Meng v. Novartis Pharm. Corp. (N.J. Super. Ct. Law Div.); Bessemer v. Novartis Pharm. Corp. (N.J. Super. Ct. Law Div.). I defended all corporate witness depositions and successfully limited company exposure as national counsel for a cosmetic company in talc litigation alleging that its products contained asbestos. On behalf of a pharmaceutical client, I have litigated several asbestos premises liability cases that led to nominal settlements or voluntary dismissals. Recently, the trial testimony of defense experts I prepared for trial has been instrumental in multiple defense verdicts for a pesticide company. Throughout my career, I have parachuted into my firms' complex litigation cases to conduct mock examination of witnesses being prepared for deposition or trial, or to depose the plaintiff’s key scientific experts in pharmaceutical, toxic tort and other complex litigation cases.
