During my Sainsbury’s career I have worked across the West of Scotland region. I have worked in five stores and been involved in two reformatted stores. I am currently based in Hamilton store where my main responsibilities include;Coaching my team to be great commercial managers through all elements of cost control: waste, labour, absence, cash loss, shrinkage, to understand their impact on profitability of the store.Managing labour cost, ensuring adequate resource meeting legal, customer and operational demands through effective training of multi skilled colleagues.Coaching and training eleven direct manager reports and the wider store team to deliver sales, profit and efficiencies ensuring they make sound decisions for customers and colleagues, applying judgement and creating a culture of trust.Supporting and developing commercial business plans, with an active interest in local competitors, along with the wider economy, to plan for the future.Spending quality time with sponsor departments, reviewing performance through regular 121s and reviews, setting clear and stretching targets.Upholding safe, legal, operational standards and profitability of the store.Creating a positive working environment through inspiring and motivational leadership, ensuring all 235 colleagues have a voice and that individual differences are heard, valued and respected.Analysing data and insights to coach team to deliver robust routines to ensure projects are landed correctly first time and to timescale Working with sponsor department mangers to identify and develop talent in support of the store people plan.Role modelling great service by encouraging team to create a store where our customers love to shop, actively identifying and recognising the great service which my colleagues offer.Leading change programmes impacting store, demonstrating resilience, resourcefulness whilst role modelling a positive attitude and maintaining high engagement with my team.

Involved in integrating the Safeway business into Morrison’s business. Completed one conversion store at Bishopbriggs and opened two new stores at Hamilton and Auchinlea, the flagship store for Morrison’s in Scotland at that time. After opening the Auchinlea store I was approached by Sainsburys to work as a Deputy Manager

Field Based Role

Regional fresh foods coach for East of Scotland, responsible for delivering and supporting training for 22 existing and new stores. Delivering and supporting change through implementing new processes while developing current processes trough effective training and coaching for over 1000 colleagues. Supporting store managers to deliver KPIs through effective challenge and review.

Accomplished every role in Safeway starting as a part time colleague while at university through to Assistant Manager, working across every format from convenience to large format Supermarkets. Involved in integrating Presto stores into main Safeway business and opened four new superstores.
