Senior Commercial Manager

Partnerships For Renewables (Pfr) Ltd

• Project valuation and maximising value: I have significant experience of undertaking discounted cashflow (DCF) valuation; analysing shareholder returns under a subsidy/non-subsidy basis; developing a new business model for onshore wind on a non-subsidy basis. I manage the economics of PfR’s project portfolio.• Investment and business planning: I manage PfR’s devex and overheads budgets. Recently, I gained experience of prioritising overheads and devex funding to maintain core projects/business functions during the current hiatus around UK renewables. This enabled PfR to continue operations and development of the company’s most economically attractive development sites under a non-subsidy basis. Since 2014, I’ve secured £3m of equity from shareholders. I keep abreast of the competitive landscape and cultivate industry connections.• Divestment of 3 operating onshore wind farms totalling 25MW. I managed key areas of the transaction incl. production of teaser and IM; managed PfR’s responses to buyer technical and legal due diligence questions; tracked shareholder returns; and managed/resolved post completion share/asset purchase agreement issues. • Commercial asset management of 5 onshore wind farms totalling 70MW under PfR and third party ownership. I established PfR’s site specific asset management plans, which involved gaining Board approvals for operating budgets totalling £3.5m/year and setting/reporting against performance targets. I managed £5m of Santander project finance/senior debt and built a good relationship with the lender; an offshore debt listing of £13m on Channel Islands Security Exchange; dispute resolution and built relationships with Ofgem. • Negotiation: successfully managing re-negotiation of leases to a lower rate with PfR’s primary land client. • Representing PfR at key industry groups including: RenewableUK, Renewable Energy Association and Westminster Energy Forum.

Apr 2014 - Aug 2017

Commercial Manager

Partnerships For Renewables

• Acquisitions: I played a key role in acquiring Craig Wind Farm Limited, a 10MW operating wind farm. My role involved: DCF valuation; managing technical, legal and financial due diligence; structuring bids; initial project financing; presenting conclusions and recommendations to PfR’s Board. Post-acquisition, I was responsible for running commercial aspects of the company, including: negotiating pricing for a 10 year O&M contract; resolving technical issues; and setting up PfR’s invoicing procedure for electricity generation.• Strategy: this involved identifying investment opportunities, predominantly in the UK, and bidding for consented onshore wind sites for PfR to construct and manage. In addition, I led a strategic review of PfR’s small scale hydro development projects and gained Investment Committee approval to divest the assets and avoid a higher risk, sub-optimal investment whilst maintaining PfR’s relationship with a key client. I assessed a potential market entry into mid-scale hydro via acquisition of a larger UK hydro company and investment in solar. • Investment planning: I led PfR’s annual business plan involving: calculating future development expenditure requirements; performance against development targets; shareholder returns; presenting the business plan to shareholders and gaining approval. I secured £19m of shareholder equity funding for project development between 2010/11 and 2013/14. • Capital raising: I played a key role in securing additional shareholder funding from a new shareholder. I was responsible for drafting teaser and IM documents; providing timely and accurate financial and project pipeline information; modelling equity requirements; shareholder returns; determining appropriate milestones for the joint venture agreement; and data room management.
