I am a DNO Senior Authorised Person with 28 years’ experience within the electrical industry.In my present role of Project Engineer I am tasked with the safe delivery of Electrical Projects at voltages up to and including 20kV. My Projects fall within the standards set by OFGEM and as such must be managed in a timely cost effective manner.I have spent several years working within the regulated electrical supply industry gaining knowledge of the frameworks, structures and procedures of various DNO’s. I have, which I believe to be advantageous, also spent several years outside this framework. I have worked with sub-contractor/Service Providers as a DNO representative and I have worked for Sub-contractors/Service providers. This ‘both sides of the fence’ experience gives me a considerable advantage when dealing with external and internal resources when setting to work, monitoring quality and assuring contract delivery. During my career within the electrical industry I have amassed a large amount of contract delivery experience. I spent a three year period as Engineering Manager at Morrison Utility services. Morrison’s at that time holding a three Million Pound share of the electrical contracts outsourced by the DNO. I am used to managing contracts, clients and service providers, believing that the stringent and robust management of the partnership between a client and its Service Provider holds the key to both parties future success. I am an Operational Engineer, I have been authorised to switch on the Northern Powergrid Network since 2008, before that operating on privately owned networks since the year 2000.Most of my operational experience is at voltages up to and including 20kV although I have some experience of EHV project management managing a series of 66Kv O/h line refurbishment Schemes. I have also worked on 33kV ring circuits and Switchgear on private sites, giving me an insight into the higher operational voltages.
