After training with renowned squash player and Coach Hadrian Stiff, Elite Squash Head Coach and I decided to use his knowledge and passion to promote the game of squash in his hometown of Dubai, UAE. Founded in 2015, Elite Squash UAE is committed to building a vibrant squash community by providing exciting and cutting edge training, coaching, tournaments, leagues, and events.Our approach is grounded in the belief that squash is not only a dynamic and exciting sport, but is ultimately a powerful way to achieve greatness in all areas of life. Held every year since 1993 the Wadi Bih Run is one of the oldest, annual expatriate sporting events in the UAE / Oman regionThe run is for teams of 5 runners, with each runner completing about 15km to give a total distance of 72 km. Each team of five includes at least one female runner.Hardy individuals can run the entire distance solo or do a shortened route (approximate distance will be a minimum of 50km) called solo canyon. The route for the run follows asphalt roads and graded gravel tracks through the spectacular Hajar mountains and is an uplifting (literally about 1000m of ascent & descent!) therapeutic experience to escape the urban mayhem of the modern UAE. The run starts and finishes in Dibba, Oman.I was part of the organising team that put the event on.Duties involved securing and managing sponsorship for the run and carrying out administrative work.Attended meetings with authorities in Sharjah and Oman to facilitate a smooth border crossing.Was MC and announcer on race day and managed logistics and operations from the start/finish venue.Prepared a comprehensive post-event report

Led a team and organised a squash tournament with 100 participants (60 adults, 40 juniors) and sold four sponsorship packages to help the tournament succeed.Prepared and presented sponsorship proposals of a high standard to prospective new sponsors.Prepared a budget, cost estimates for different items and venues to ensure that the event made a profit.

Worked on sponsorship activation, made sure all 33 sponsors were happy with their corporate hospitality options, their stands in the rugby village, branding around the pitches and that they provided their required programmes and TV commericals on time.Prepared and presented sponsorship proposals of a high standard to prospective new sponsors.Prepared and sent out detailed forms giving sponsors their deadlines and information on their benefits.This role also involved more detailed work with the invitation tournament and sponsors. Prepared proposals forI utilised my excellent people and communication skills, which helped me to work closely with colleagues in a small team regarding Corporate Hospitality and Logistics.I used my good knowledge of Dubai having lived here for 20 years and frequently visited the Sevens Stadium for site visits with sponsors and other members of the team.This role was a very busy and intense one and was vital to the smooth running of the event.

Worked with a small team regarding a grass roots football initiative on behalf of Ahdaaf, a local sports marketing consultant. We presented this proposal to a number of large multinational companies concerning their strategy for next year leading up to the 2014 World Cup in Brasil.Assisted the Business Development Manager in managing sales and communication aspects of Ahdaaf Sports Club including its activities and the relationship between the Club, Guests, Employees, Community, Government and Industry.Assisted all employees in communications and sales. Proactively promoted the Club and its services to external vendors and potential customer and focused on securing sponsorship packages for the Club.Prepared revenue growth proposals and recommendations regarding future business development for consideration by the Managing Partner. Located and proposed potential business deals and sponsorship by contacting potential partners; discovered and explored opportunities.Work a flexible schedule and long hours as is the nature of such a position in the service industry.

Was assistant to the commercial manager.Measured variations for projects in terms of materials, labour and plant.Liased with site managers, contractors and suppliers to obtain prices for proposed / ongoing works. Very experienced in excel spreadsheets and autocad. Visited sites to directly measure variations when no information was available. Assisted with tender submissions.

- Preparation of a gym specification in GWQ. This involved looking at the different fit-out elements such as the floors, walls, ceilings, painting, WC, doors, ironmongery, services and different utilities.- Preparation of tender documents for various sub-contractors, analysis of the completed tenders, recommendations and the final preparation of contracts once post-tender minutes were completed with the chosen sub contractors depending on their commercial viability.- Site visits of a 28 storey reinforced concrete tower frame. Saw the different elements involved in its construction and the procedures / parties involved.- Viewed residential units at Barratt Homes Featherstone site. Some were completed while others were under construction, a site visit was completed. Met with a roofing sub contractor and took minutes of a post tender negotiations meeting.

- Part of a team in an 80 cover restaurant. Initially duties involved preparation of items in all sections (curry, tandoor, pantry, pastry) under the supervision of a senior chef. - Over the course of the year a competent knowledge of the menu was achieved leading to more responsibility and working in multiple sections. Running the pass was required when short staffed as well as filling in on other sections, which was a great learning experience. - By early 2010 responsibilities included preparing a third of the menu. Private functions for over 300 covers were catered for occasionally. This involved the preparation and distribution of canapés and bar food.

- Part of a large restructuring project for the Ministry of Health (MoH).- Duties involved contacting HR representatives of companies, inviting them to road shows/presentations and informing them of future changes to the health system.- Administrative duties were completed involving data entry, creating information packs and distributing them.

- Responsibilities including working at reception taking bookings, assisting with marketing and mailshots, dealing with cash payments & customer complaints.- Worked as restaurant supervisor overseeing service while also serving tables, made sure that reservation book was up-to-date and accurate.- Worked as chef for most of the placement serving breakfast in the morning, sending out bar snacks at lunch and preparing a 4-course Table d’hote menu for dinner. Duties also included ordering stock for kitchen and restaurant to a budget on a daily basis.
