While I prepped to start my new business venture, I did a fixed-term consultancy project in Copenhagen, Denmark, where I assisted in the conversion of a 20,000sqm high-end hotel to a residential building.• Unit design and reconfiguration• Project management• Establishment of SOP’s with the property managers• Hiring of leasing and marketing teams• Overseeing the building of the website• Furnishing of show units

In mid 2015, l was approached to join a start-up private fund as the Asset Manager. Having grown significantly, quickly, the property management was brought in-house towards the end of 2016 where an entirely new team was established under my supervision. Although the assets under management started off predominantly in Johannesburg city center, it quickly spread throughout the greater Johannesburg region and entered into Cape Town in 2018. By the start of 2019 the fund had R1 billion worth of assets under management and started shifting its focus towards student residential accommodation that same year.

Senior Portfolio Manager for the Propertuity portfolio, an inner-city development company which held roughly 40 properties comprised of a mix of residential commercial, industrial and retail properties within the Maboneng Precinct. This also included management of all Maboneng’s bodies corporate and street/area management. Having also managed a number of properties for the listed fund, Arrowhead Properties, Mafadi then won the contract for the management of the Indluplace upon its listing, which I would head up.
