Since starting my work journey back in 1990, I've dedicated my work life to not just growing within this ever-changing industry but also learning from it which defines me. On a personal level I have navigated through a profound personal loss of one of my twin teenage daughters, an experience that has deeply shaped my outlook on life, fostering resilience and deepening appreciation for what is important in life and one's career. Mentioning not for compassion but for, ok, get you've been through some major life shite and still exist..Career to date... In my career I've delved into the complexity of ever changing technologies from my first computer experience with my spectrum 16k to my first PC at 18 (4086 4Mb Windows 3.1 costing over £2k) fast forward to today to the current landscape of AWS EC2, EKS, ECR, Inspector, GuardDuty, SecHub etc, its risks, the tools for their management, and the strategic responses crucial for safeguarding organizational security and integrity. Understanding and interacting with current technology (doing stuff and playing with new technologies) is key to understanding and appreciating the associated risks (i.e, don't witness AWS Sechub findings from a process perspective! You have to understand the why behind the reported CVEs and impact, to risk access appropriately!).Learning... Being embedded in a 30 year startup land and collaborating with numerous successful professionals over the years, I've been exposed to a diverse range of perspectives and opinions. This exposure has defined my growth. I've always valued this input, understanding that innovation often stems from the confluence of different ideas and perspectives, which is vital in any improvement process.Whether these suggestions have aligned with current goals and made sense, I've always endeavoured to integrate them and strive to make the collective vision work. This openness to ideas and learning, coupled with a pragmatic approach to their implementation acknowledges that IT is not just shaped by technology but also by the people who contribute to it. Maybe akin to life, connections and choices. I am enthused with shaping the future of a company by getting amongst the weeds and coming up with solution’s with people to make things so, no matter how hard..
