Neil started his career in the Public Analysts Service in Birmingham in 1973 where he gained a wide range of scientific, technical and legal knowledge required to enforce consumer product and environmental law. He moved to the Meat and Livestock Commission in 1984 as Chief Technical Officer where he established a technical, legal and laboratory support service for the meat and meat product industry. In 1988 Neil left to establish Law Laboratories where he oversaw the work of this multidisciplinary service provision through technologists, chemists, microbiologists, ex-trading standard and environmental health officers and lawyers.In April 1994 he was appointed Chief Executive of The Monitor Group which incorporated Law Laboratories and the Environmental Company’s Winton Environmental Management, Monitor Environmental Consultants and MGC Limited. He was responsible for over 300 professionals servicing the areas of food and the environment. In January 2002, following an MBO he became Chief Executive of Law Laboratories Limited and in 2004 became Chairman. In April 2005 Lawlabs was sold to Bodycote plc and Neil became a Senior Director continuing to support and advice key Bodycote clients at Board and Senior Management level. In May 2006 he became a consultant to Bodycote through Neil Griffiths Consultants and in May 2008 continued to provide consultancy services to major retailers, trade associations, societies and government agencies.In 2010 Neil established SVA Ltd where, as CEO, he oversaw the work of over 200 professionals providing analytical and advisory support to major retailers. In May 2015 SGS acquired SVA and Neil took up a new position as Retail Services Director for the UK. In November 2017 Neil left SGS to become a Director of his own consultancy company Neil Griffiths Advisory Ltd.
