Connecting Devon & Somerset

Leading multiple delivery phases of the Connecting Devon & Somerset BDUK Superfast Broadband project. Responsible for the connection of approximately 75,000 homes as well as ongoing commercial programme commitments.Connecting Devon and Somerset has been set up to deliver next generation broadband infrastructure to areas where the market has failed to invest.It is a public-private partnership of six local authorities (Somerset, Devon, North Somerset, Torbay, Plymouth and Bath and North East Somerset) and our delivery partner BT. Somerset County Council is the accountable body for the programme.

East Cornwall

Responsible for East Cornwall as a Project Manager working within the Cornwall next generation access project team. Leading the deployment of FTTC and FTTx technologies in East Cornwall responsibilities were throughout all stages from planning, build, through to commissioning and in life troubleshooting.Driving productivity and performance of cabling and civil engineering sub-contractors against stretching KPIs.Ensuring all work meets vigorous quality standards and is able to pass internal audits.Extremely knowledgeable of telecoms civil engineering requirements, I regularly handle in life changes and re-plans to allow the infrastructure to be built in harmony with the complex geography Cornwall offers.Managing relationships with a wide range of project stakeholders including Highways, Cornwall Council, Local and Parish Councils, Western Power Distribution, Traffic Management companies, Carrillion-Telent and their various sub-contractors.Reporting on a daily basis to senior management teams, forecasting and predicting completion dates and handling the jeopardy management of the build programme.

Responsible for a team of 25 customer service field engineers I handled performance management, HR issues, efficiency and quality drives as well as being responsibility for the overall health and safety of the team.
