As a Platform Engineer, I've been working with technologies like Terraform and Docker, and using tools like Jenkins and AWS to enable the development team at Acuris to continue to innovate and build new services.

The platform team at Mergermarket are responsible for providing the tools to make developers lives easier and ensuring that practices such as continuous deployment are made straightforward and pain free.With my experience working with technologies like Docker, AWS and Jenkins and my growing interest in the "devops"​ field and the technologies surrounding it, it made sense for me to become a Platform QA working closely with these technologies on a day-to-day basis.

As part of the Mergermarket Group, I transitioned to the QA Lead role at Infinata, one of the groups subsidiary companies. My initial responsibility was to introduce some basic Agile practices to the company and automate some of their current processes to help the transformation project. Over time, the move to a more agile product development team meant that I had to take on additional responsibility to help with the process. I used my growing knowledge of development best practice to define a QA strategy that would enable the team to progress in a scalable way. I enabled the current QA team to learn agile testing methods and grow as professionals in their career. I championed CI and CD where appropriate, and encouraged the use of feature flags and automated acceptance test to enable this.

Placed at The Mergermarket Group as an FDM consultant. I worked as a lone tester on an API project, responsible for driving forward the use of automation testing. I also took responsibility for coordinating releases within the project and defining the overall release process. Working with visual studio and TFS, I focused on having a large suite of automation using specflow and C# and as I was also responsible for testing an ETL process.Eventually the team grew with an additional two testers. I was responsible for training them in the testing and release process that had been implemented, as well as developing their overall knowledge of the project.As Mergermarket moved towards a micro services architecture, my experience with API testing in numerous projects helped and I also got the opportunity to focus on front end automation more than before and successfully re-wrote most of the existing legacy automation using a page object model. I was also encouraged to experiment with technologies and improved my knowledge of various development tools and languages such as RabbitMQ, angular.js, node.js, Mongodb.Throughout my time at The Mergermarket Group, I worked on various projects following agile methodologies, responsible for: • Ensuring TDD processes are in place • Helping developers implement BDD at acceptance test level • Responsible for overall QA processes within the project
