Working as a member of the operations team, leading and coordinating related activities within the department and assisting development of technical areas developing, installing and managing projects running of shows fit ups and load outs. Inspection and installation of equipment and systems to ensure development of the business. The running of shows and point of contact when required. Enforcing and setting a high standard of health and safety for visiting companies and internal team members. Displaying current knowledge of Health and safety with particular reference to LOLER, Working at Height, PUWER Manuel Handling and COSHH.

Working closely with operational management regularly co-ordinating the performances in a large regional multipurpose entertainment venue, implementing Health and safety and co-ordination of large casts and the public in performance spaces. Working with internal and external directors/production companies such as Cameron Macintosh Ltd and Northern Ballet, co-ordination of programming and designing the movement of theatrical scenery on an automated flying system (Stage Technologies Nomad & Solo), Construction of theatrical sets and staging. Leadership of the crew for fit ups and get out’s, venue maintenance and housekeeping. Implementation of detailed recording of testing and inspection of lifting equipment to comply with current regulations.

The duties of this role included the management and operation of theatrical rigging systems within the performance areas of the ships, being solely responsible for the safety of performers wile at height. Working with motors, lines, hoist, tracks, drives, lifts and programming of PC/PLC based automation systems. Operating Flying by Foy LXE consoles and using the Pegasus operating program. Working with the show’s producers to co-ordinate schedules. Conducting maintenance and troubleshooting and repairing the technical systems when needed utilising climbing and rope access equipment up to 100ft off the floor. Completing accurate maintenance logs and generating weekly reports and budgets to be sent to CEO level and service recommendations when needed, completing risk assessments, method statements, chemical inventory’s and rescue plans.

Working with external clients and in conjunction with colleagues to produce and coordinate in-house events and shows for corporate business and internal productions. I was responsible for the production management of the events or entertainment products for example rigging, audio-visual requirements, sets, theming, video production, lighting and sound, pyrotechnics and management of performers within my remit, contracts of suppliers, tendering and negotiations. During this period I was able to Increase sales of technical packages year on year with clear profit margins and leading to annual package sales of over £200,000. I have recruited for seasonal and permanent employees and ran and been involved in regular assessment days for performers to technical employees.The role demanded a very high level of professionalism and flexibility, as well as excellent organisational, time management and communication abilities. The job was always varied and challenging due to the nature of Alton Towers and the industry, working closely with and managing external client’s expectations during meetings working close with internal employees and external contractors, working with budgets of around £100,000 per contract. Authorizing stock and purchase orders, overseeing building maintenance and health and safety of the events and the venue. During my time here I successfully project managed and coordinated various entrainment projects and multiple events simultaneously running and attractions across the resort, including; concerts, product launch’s and large public events, seasonal parties, weekend attractions such as dancing with the stars, Dreamworks Madagascar weekends, comedy shows, conferences, exhibitions, product launches, world record attempts in various venues and a diverse range of events/shows and a large range in venues outdoors, Marquees, conference rooms, theatres, historic buildings and open areas around the resort and UK.
