Dr. Neil Johnson joined The Taft University System in 2011 and recently moved on after serving thirteen years as the President and Chief Academic Officer. Prior to joining Taft, he was Chief Academic Officer for Aspen University and National Director of Training for Colorado Aerotech. In his career he has served as Professor of Psychology for nationally and regionally accredited colleges, Flight Operations Training Manager for United Airlines, and as Vice President of Safety and Training for two regional airlines. In addition, he has formal training in curriculum development and instructional systems design. He is internationally recognized for his published research on aviation safety and training of commercial and military flight crews. Dr. Johnson served two years as an executive on loan to the Johnson Space Center while assisting in development of astronaut and flight controller training for space shuttle operations. He is a former member of the International Space Station Advisory Committee and has extensive international business experience in Europe, Russia, the Middle East and South America. Dr. Johnson earned his PhD in Experimental Psychology from Colorado State University, holds a master’s degree in Organizational Psychology, completed post-doctorate studies in Clinical Psychology at Denver University School of Professional Psychology and is a distinguished graduate of the Department of Defense Logistics Management School. He is a U.S. Army veteran, Commercial Pilot, and Certified Flight Instructor. He builds furniture as a hobby and occasionally sneaks off to the mountains to go fly fishing. He lives with his wife Raequel in Lakewood, Colorado.
