Guided finances for Ford Spain and the Valencia manufacturing operations through a successful product and manufacturing launch of the “Ka”, the smallest car made by Ford. Despite adverse market conditions, Ka was highly successful and profitable. Plans implemented included cost-effective product design and content, innovative logistics, and supply base changes that reduced costs by over $30 million Anticipated and quantified the strategic issue of surplus manufacturing labor, then a developing concern under European labor laws. Ford implemented major changes in investment, sourcing, labor practices, flexible work patterns, and retirement programs as a result.
