I research novel machine learning methods to help make sense of multi-channel neural activity time-series. We have used these models to identify networks in the brain that are associated with various emotional processes and psychiatric disorders and have published these models at venues such as NeurIPS, Cell, and Neuron. My long-term goal is to integrate these models into systems that allow for real-time, closed-loop control of neural activity, which would facilitate the treatment and understanding of psychiatric disorders.Before my PhD at Duke, I studied machine learning in the Electrical Engineering department at Stanford University.Skills: Python, Torch, Tensorflow, Matlab, data science, optimization, Unix, git, systems neuroscience, neural networks, factor models, Gaussian processes
