I currently hold 2 main directorships within the Belcan International group looking after their European Operations in Germany and Poland.Belcan Poland is currently based next to Rzeszow International Airport in Jasionka. This venture will grow significantly in the next 12-18 months. My key task here is to ensure the company incubates well and launches on a firm and stable footing.Belcan Deutschland is a German registered company employing 100+ engineers in the Berlin area, engaging in high-end technology fields associated with the Aerospace, Turbo Machinery and Transportation industries. As Managing Director of both companies I am accountable for the strategic development of the businesses, their Legal Administration and Operations Management. I am responsible for overall profitability and general running, exercising control over the Financial, Administration and Human Resource functions within the businesses.My leadership extends to the assurance of technical governance across the businesses, allocating project responsibilities with our Engineering Management Teams, approving major customer quotations and for ensuring the overall profitability of contracts. This responsibility extends to maintaining timely compliance with customer specifications, ensuring that the technical integrity of the companies outputs are maintained. I am the key interface with our design division's clients and responsible for managing overall customer relationships, developing and forecasting business opportunities and assessing the companies overall performances against customer requirements.Additionally I am responsible for ensuring that the infrastructure for our employees operates effectively, extending to customers and other necessary requirements, to ensure the companies commitment to customer service is maintained.

Having lived in Berlin a natural move for me was to take over the management of Belcan’s facility which is adjacent to RR Deutschland. I became responsible for the Engineering and Commercial Management of Gas Turbine Engineering Projects being run from this office leading a team of approx. 40 engineers working across a number of disciplines (Design, Stress and Thermal Engineering) on a variety of turbo-machinery projects for Rolls-Royce. During this time I worked with the Belcan UK board to set up of Belcan Deutschland, a German registered GmbH company: giving Belcan a formal German footprint.

Having worked closely with RR Deutschland for a few years the opportunity came up for me to move to Berlin and work on RR projects there, moving back into a front line engineering role working on new CLE novel turbine thermals. During this time I lived in the Berlin area.

Having worked with Belcan for over 8 years and on RR products for almost 20 years I seized the opportunity to progress my career into management by taking on the role of Project Manager for Design focusing on Belcan teams working on BAESYSTEMS aero and marine projects and the RR-Deutschland BR725 engine project.

This was a significant period of consolidation in my practice as an Engineer working across Design and Thermal disciplines on various Gas Turbine and Airframe projects. During this period I also studied for my second degree in my spare time.

With the closure of Rolls-Royce Engineering in East Kilbride I took the opportunity for a career break. During this 2 year period I joined a charity organisation who's focus was on reaching out to the poor around the world. This involved helping bring hope through the provision of practical aid and education. This was a period of significant personal development as I learned to live with circa 45 nationalities and manage very challenging and diverse circumstances in some of the most difficult regions of the world.

I joined RR at the age of 17 on their Undergraduate Scholarship Programme having gained direct entry to Glasgow University. Graduating at the age of 21 in 1991 in Mechanical Engineering with a first class honours degree I was awarded graduate of the year and went on to win the Scotland Premier Trainee of the year and Runner Up in the UK RR Chairman's Award. In 1991 I joined the RR East Kilbride Design office where I worked on a wide variety of design projects on various engines within RR's CSME fleet.
