I have over 25 year’s experience working in the Oil & Gas Industry working in a variety of roles as a Production Technician, Control Room Operator, Control of Work Specialist and Shift Supervisor.I am currently working as an Area Authority for Commissioning and Operation of an existing and new Gas Plant. As part of this role I ensure that work is carried out safely and efficiently as per BP’s Upstream Control of Work Procedure and associated Procedures. To ensure long term operation of the asset by the Egyptian Nationals I also train and assess them to BP’s standardsAs well as building, issuing and monitoring Permits to the Upstream CoW Standard, I design and implement process isolations. As part of the validation requirements I carry out Permit audits and as part of this I am experienced in carrying out safety conversations with regard to compliance with rules and procedures in accordance with BP’s OMS. As part of my role I facilitate Level 2 Risk Assessments for both Permits and Isolations where the hazard / risk perception warrants increased scrutiny the task requires. As planning is key to the control of work process I carry out site visits both with the Planning and Job PA’s to review the work scope and co-ordinate any SIMOPS issues where appropriate. I have an extensive knowledge in DCS process temperature, pressure and flow control schemes, to operate a world class scale Propylene Plant. I have been involved in writing plant Operation Instructions, P&ID review, COSHH, HITRA / Task Based Risk Assessments, ISSOW and training new technicians. Experienced in many plant start-up, shutdown and emergency situations for complex process units, I have taken part in pre-commissioning, commissioning and turnaround work with multi stage compressors, multi stage pumps, separators, fractionation columns, ethylene driers, ethylene/propylene treaters, refrigeration units, hydrocarbon recovery units and degassing vessels.I have many years outside operational experience including frontline first fix maintenance and preparation for turnarounds and return from maintenance to prepare for re-commissioning on various sections of the plant such as Feed Treatment, Refrigeration, Gas Compression, Degassing/Separation, Exothermic Reaction and Utilities.I have worked as the Shift Availability Supervisor responsible for managing the safe and reliable Shift Operations of the Ethylene and Propylene assets to achieve required HSE and Production Targets, providing assurance that all operating boundaries are adhered to on the plant through the various sections.
