Through the cycle experience with Investment Committees & Boards to establish an out-performing property portfolio. From a start-up position, personally led a multi-disciplinary approach including strategy formation, investment activities to create a $6B equity property portfolio (primarily direct transactions & mandates). Over 1 to 10-year durations, performance significantly exceeded the Mercer IPD index, with the Rest Property Option generating top quartile performance. Focussed on identifying top down market trends and strong bottom up execution of direct investments, eg Quay Quarter Tower (QQT) Sydney. Low cost base, deliberate low exposure to the Retail sector and early direct investment into the US multifamily sector and more recently direct development in the US logistics sector.Coming from a valuation background, transitioned to residential development, property financing, then to the role of Head of Portfolio Management & Research Westpac Property Finance Group prior to joining REST Super. My leadership style centres around creating a high performance team and empowering team members to take initiatives leading to innovative strong performing direct investments (eg purchase & asset management of a one-third interest in QQT, high conviction direct assets, establishment of US logistics and multifamily mandates with Clarion & Greystar). Driven by finding long term value, not by following the herd, using direct asset skills and the ability to undertake bespoke market studies to establish and execute investment strategies with best of breed partners. These strategies are orientated around specific locations, sub-markets, site/project selection, and not solely backing a particular sector or Manager to outperform.I left Rest on good terms, with a highly capable team in place and an optimized portfolio with stand-out performance. After 20 years it is time to reassess my next challenge. I have extensive global contacts and a strong network across the real assets sectors. I am seeking roles that utilize my skill-set, experience, global networks, whether this be in a leadership capacity, Advisory position or appointment to an Investment Committee, CIO or Board or as a non-executive director role for unlisted or listed vehicles. What sets me apart is the solid track record of through the cycle investment decision making and being accountable, having to stand by my recommendations and ultimate decisions.
