Worked 24 years for State Farm Insurance. Worked catastrophe claims for most of my career and traveled the country. I used to hold claim licenses in over 18 states. Worked mostly in Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, Minnesota, Florida, Colorado, Arizona, Ohio, Tennessee, Idaho, California, Illinois, Indiana, Utah, and Nevada. During my early work as a carrier adjuster, I was taught to help our customers and that is why I preferred customer facing roles. But overtime the industry training and atmosphere changed. I could see the lack of empathy and customer service in the industry. I remember attending a conference and a presentation by the author of The Awesome Adjuster. When I attended that presentation, I had pride in feeling that the company cared enough about its employees and customers to provide this material and the book. The goal was that I was a customer service representative who happened to work in the insurance industry.
