Assistant Manager
I am a dedicated Assistant Manager who strives for excellence in everything I do, whether it be acting as a role model in diamond and watch presentations, engaging with every customer in a positive way, carrying out product launches, resolving complaints, coaching my sales members or completing repairs and jewellery inspections with care and giving sound advice.I believe integrity is a key attribute I hold when it comes to my work and everyday life. It is important to me to act with the best intentions to ensure that the people around you trust you, feel valued, can go to you for advice and view you as someone who cares and believes in others abilities.I oversee the performance of the sales members by coaching, practicing, ensuring training is complete and providing regular feedback during daily briefs and after sales to challenge agreed behaviours and expectations.I have conducted monthly performance reviews and appraisals to understand capabilities, outline training and succession plans and prepare for the year ahead. I have conducted investigation interviews and handled staff conflicts in a fair and consistent manner to ensure a positive outcome.I have had a successful recruitment of an apprentice from submitting the position, conducting the interviews and hiring. I took ownership of their training by guiding them through Silver level training, provided support with their apprenticeship assignments and coaching them on the shop floor and providing feedback which allowed them to complete their 6 month probation with their Silver level completed as well as their apprenticeship and they are now a high performing sales member looking to further themselves with additional training.I have developed the teams capabilities in warranty performance which I have consistently performed at and have put together a training presentation that has allowed them to better understand the key characteristics and questioning skills needed to sell the features and benefits.
Store Manager
After successfully completing my Supervisor induction programme and completing the JET1 course, I had applied for an Assistant Manager position that came up in our Peterhead store after discussing my intentions with my manager which they supported. As part of the supervisor induction programme sign-off I completed the relevant STAR recruitment interview which was used in the decision making of the application for Assistant Manager. I was offered the job and ran the store with the absence of a Store Manager for a year and completed the Management induction programme and additional training including Employee relations and Audit masterclass training before being promoted to the position of Store Manager.I quickly set my standards for the store and outlined my expectations with the team. I demonstrated how the team were able to work more efficiently, taking ownership of their own sections in store to give them a sense of pride in their work and I motivated the team to improve themselves by praising good behaviours and encouraging this in daily discussions and monthly reviews and also challenged poor behaviours and discussed how to improve their performance, store performance and store/stock security.I successfully saw the store move from a league 10 store to a top 3 leagues store which was a massive improvement in terms of overall store performance that included sales/repairs/service stats, shrinkage, ACE (amazing customer service) scores, compliance and stock accuracy.I ensured that all sales members had completed the Silver level training and the sign-off on their selling capability assessments were completed. I then discussed further training options available and saw my supervisor complete JET1, trained competent sales members supervisory skills to enable them to step-up if required and successfully recruited new members as well as two apprentices. I had my challenges with low performers and have conducted performance/disciplinary hearings and investigations.
Sales Associate
I started in a part-time sales position completing Silver level training in workbench skills, diamond and gemstones, hallmarking and watch training. After 6 months I continued with Gold level training that included handling customer complaints, advanced watch training and advanced diamond training. I then became a full-time member of the sales team and was given the opportunity to complete a Supervisor induction programme that allowed me to work along with the management team to review performance reports and gain an understanding of how product performance is measured and what we could do to maintain or improve performance by producing a 12 week action plan that would allow me to present my ideas to the team and ensure they understand my expected behaviours, observe the team and provide feedback on individual and team performance through daily briefs, shop floor observations and performance reviews. I got to experience how performance reviews were conducted and given the opportunity to conduct some myself. With my 12 week action plan I was also asked to improve the performance of a team member and 3 watch brands. I increased sales in all 3 chosen watch brands (Seiko, Bulova and Citizen) by putting together a presentation to deliver to the sales team, asking for commitments, and observing and providing feedback during sales. I also made myself available if any of the sales team required more knowledge to give a clear explanation of the brand. I followed the stores performance report to keep up to date with figures and would update the team with where we were and what the main focus for the day/week was. I decided that the development required for the sales associate was warranty sales as this was their poorest performing stat. I created a presentation to highlight and give a clear insight on how best to introduce and sell warranty to the customer. I observed and gave feedback by also being encouraging and motivational while challenging them to overcome objections.
