These include: Fibre to the Premises; xDSL; HFC; WiMAX; WiFi Mesh; Particular focus on Disruptive Technologies such as Powerline Communications.- During this period assumed the position of Technical Lead for “Broadband Connect Infrastructure Program” – Development of Optus’ Technical Solution in response to the federal government request for proposals to address areas of Australia (chiefly Regional) underserved for broadband services. This resulted in the Development of a $1 billion National Network solution including Wireless and Wired Access Technologies plus National Backhaul and Backbone Transmission. The solution was made more cost effective by leveraging the use of Optus Mobile Base Stations. The proposal was accepted by the Department of Communications but the initiative was subsequently abandoned before implementation due to a change of government and the announcement of the NBN.- A notable highlight of this project was the honour of making a presentation of the selected technologies to then Prime Minister John Howard in front of live media.
