As part of the divisional sales team I am responsible for my own portfolio of opportunities at various levels of maturity within the sales pipeline mainly in the commercial defence and transport markets. The opportunities generally involve multiple business groups or require pan-QinetiQ contributions. I led the FY07/08 divisional sales budgeting process co-ordinating negotiations across the strategic markets and account teams and our division provided the most consistent sales forecast data (within the Sector) throughout this process. I am responsible for bid coaching across the division and the dissemination of best practice including mentoring and coaching bid managers. I am also responsible for Chairing bid/no-bid decision meetings for projects with a value <£2M.

I took up the role of Business Group Manager for the Military and Civil Engineering business group within the Land Systems Division. I was the single point responsibility for a staff of 40, a turnover of >£5M and the challenge of leading and developing the staff, their capabilities and key facilities to meet the new commercial challenges facing QinetiQ as it was privatised out of the MOD's former Defence Evaluation and Research Agency.

various rolesIn my early career I specialised in computer modelling, initially finite element analysis (FEA) for vehicle structures and then computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for predicting vehicle thermal signatures and the latter led to 5-6 years working on land vehicle stealth covering thermal, radar and acoustic signatures and led to a number of designs that are now more commonly found on UK military equipments.
