My responsibilities included sales, purchasing, repairs and servicing, wheel building, marketing, bike fitting, coaching, and sponsored athlete relations. During this time the business has grown significantly in size and reputation, and supported the development of one of Scotland’s biggest cycling clubs.

I created the performance plan, secured funding for and delivered the same for the Scottish Cycling Team. Recruited and supported paid and volunteer coaching and other support staff. Selected and reviewed riders for various squads. In addition, I managed budgets, logistics and liaised with funding bodies, directors and other stakeholders. The 2006 Commonwealth Games, where 6 medals were won, was my proudest moment in my career.

Responsible for world class coaching support for all riders on the team from developing athletes to Olympic Games competitors, directly, or working with external coaches. I was responsible for ensuring access to world class support services and race programs that were tailored to each athlete, and was involved at every stage of the selection and review process for said athletes. I provided team management at training camps and events, managed budgets, and provided coaching support to other disciplines within the British Cycling Team. Athletes in my charge achieved 1st place overall in the Under 23 World Cup, silver medal in the World Championships, 7th place in the 2004 Athens, and World Championship top 10 placings.

I was responsible for selecting, coaching and managing Junior (U18) and Under 23 road cycling teams, developing race programs to prepare athletes for the World Championships, Senior National Programs, and Professional Cycling Careers. I contributed to the development of the British Cycling Coaching Qualifications, writing, commissioning and editing content, and tutoring student coaches.

Alongside working as a self-employed cycling coach with the support of the Princes Scottish Youth Business Trust, I provided coaching and team management support to Scottish Cycling for their Youth, Junior and Under 23 road, track and MTB athletes.
