The responsibilities included managing spacecraft flight hardware systems, ground systems, launch vehicles, and research instrumentation payloads. Heat pipes are used to provide a constant temperature used in spacecraft development, experiments, and a wide range of aerospace applications. Responsibilities included mechanical assembly and disassembly of flight hardware. This required the applications of polymers, the use of helium leak detectors, precision cleaning, machine tools, welding, instrumentation (thermocouples), heaters, cryogenics, and computer based test equipment, associated testing of heat pipes and operation of various calibration parameters. Worked closely with engineers reviewing mechanical design drawings using ACAD. This included environmental testing, fabrication and setup of systems used in the integration of heat pipes to space flight hardware.
