Supported GLORY Mission at GSFC, Orbital Science Corporation (OSC) and at Sigma Space. This included building MGSE equipment, performance testing of the two primary instruments on the spacecraft, Aerosol Polarimetry Sensor (APS), and the Cloud Camera Projector (CCP). Worked with the primary physicists and assisted testing with Electronic Field Source (EFS) unit on the Spacecraft in a clean room and thru TVAC testing. Supported James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) shipping container refurbishment at Martin State Airport at Middle River, MD. Removal of existing EOS platform to be retrofitted with new hardware related to JWST.

Supports the Express Logistics Carrier (ELC) for the International Space Station (ISS) under the MSES II/A contract. Under the direction of Test and Integration Engineer, provides support in the test and integration of thermal, electronic, and electromechanical systems and subsystems in response to task requirements. This position requires experience and NASA approved verification in soldering, wire wrapping, handling ESD sensitive parts, and contamination control. It also requires knowledge of engineering terms and units and computer analysis techniques. This includes the bread boarding of test electronics, the fabrication of test harnesses, the interfacing and operation of various test hardware, instrumentation, and equipment, and the documentation of test sequences, and test procedures. It also includes the ability to read and interpret schematics, and efficiently operate computers including the ability to write simple programs and interpret data.Worked with NASA GSFC Code 301 on the PAAC II contract. The responsibilities included managing spacecraft flight hardware systems, ground systems, launch vehicles, and research instrumentation payloads. The work encompasses issues maintained in the Request for Authorizations RFA’s through the NASA data base. Resolved issues with open RFA’s. Traveled extensively to various meetings (CDR’s, PDR’s, SDR’s etc...) with the various Aerospace companies, NASA centers, Universities throughout the United States.

I interfaced with 4 Project Managers, 10 Engineers and Senior Staff on a regular basis. Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project, multi-tasking and attention to detail in a fast paced environment with little supervision were necessary to perform duties for this position.

The position was within the engineering department developing and testing new products and processes for UV curing applications. Microwave power was used to generate intense UV light from electrodeless bulbs. These resulted in the ability to cure certain coatings more quickly improve productivity and reduce costs for many applications. This involved curing industrial inks, coatings, or adhesives on paper, metal, plastic, glass, wood or any other material.

Provided support for the Swales Thermal Systems (STS) group. STS designs and manufactures “Heat Pipes” which are Aluminum tubes filled with ammonia under vacuum. Heat pipes are used to provide a constant temperature used in spacecraft development, experiments, and a wide range of aerospace applications. Responsibilities included mechanical assembly and disassembly of flight hardware. This required the applications of polymers, the use of helium leak detectors, precision cleaning, machine tools, welding, instrumentation (thermocouples), heaters, cryogenics, and computer based test equipment, associated testing of heat pipes and operation of various calibration parameters. Worked closely with engineers reviewing mechanical design drawings using ACAD. This included environmental testing, fabrication and setup of systems used in the integration of heat pipes to space flight hardware.

Outgassing Test Laboratory. Tested materials to determine their potential for surface contamination and physical property degradation in the spacecraft environment. Tests were performed on polymeric materials. This screening process allows comparison of similar materials so that the "cleanest" can be used in spacecraft development, experiments, and black box construction for aerospace applications. Designed parts using ACAD from simple sketches for fabrication. Duties included Chemical Inventory and Property Administrator for the Materials Branch. Provided support for the X-ray Timing Explorer/Proportional Counter Array (XTE/PCA); five proportional counters designed to detect x-ray energies in the range of 2-60 keV with 18% energy resolution. Responsibilities included mechanical assembly and disassembly of flight spectrometers, operation and maintenance of vacuum chambers and equipment, design assistance, environmental testing, fabrication and setup of an accelerator beam monitoring system and integration of space flight hardware. Assisted the science team by establishing calibration parameters for the instrument using radioactive sources and accelerators, collected science data by using various computer platforms including a Sun/UNIX workstation and a P.C. based Pulse Height Analysis (PHA) system.
