Global Procurement - Category Manager (Packaging)British American Tobacco Aug 2011 - Dec 2016London, United KingdomResponsible for developing a robust Global Print Strategy for BAT Procurement. Gaining sign off (via Global Ops LT and Global Marketing LT) and then managing/coordinating the implementing of this strategic approach for across the 4 BAT regions (AMR, WE, EMMEA, & AsPAC) with a dedicated procurement team, covering circa +50 factories, with a spend in excess of £0.60bn. As part of the strategy, we conceived and developed an online Print Cost Management Tool ‘PPCT’ (Printed Packaging Costing Tool by Optipedia), to replace the redundant system (Clarity).PPCT was developed to give a bottom up cost breakdown analysis (conversion and material breakdown) of existing SKU’s and subsequent control of new SKU’s going forward. This was successfully rolled out across the 4 Regions and the tool was so successful that it was subsequently expanded with Analytics and RFP capabilities. This allowed my team to complete the first Global Print Tender in 2016 with data analytics which delivered significant financial benefit. PPCT remains a powerful tool and is still used today as the default ‘cost management’ control for Printed Packaging. -
Regional Supply Chain - Head Strategic Account Management (Sam)British American Tobacco Aug 2007 - Aug 2011I joined BAT as a Mid-Career recruit to develop and implement a B2B Account Management process in Western Europe Supply Chain (SCWE) as a member of the Leadership Team. BAT had recently moved to an above Market Supply Chain model and the challenge was how to engage, integrate and change the working model with the Commercial (marketing) side of the business with Operation (Supply chain). This involved the set-up of the SAM function (Strategic Account Management), recruitment (x7 SAM’s - senior a management grade), modelling and process implementation, and the successful execution with the Commercial End Market Top Teams. The SAM’s in Operations SC Hub became; ‘The face of Operations, but voice of the End Market’ in the SOP meeting. In 2009 I also adopted the demand management responsibility, with a team of +30 Account Handlers. In 2010 with the implementation of new SAP (APO) functionality, with the SCWE LT we carried out further SC transformation integrating and improving our demand management and business engagement. -
