Dr Neil Williams PSM BSc Hons (ANU) MPhil PhD (Yale) FTSE• Neil is passionate about the future success of Australian mineral exploration. His distinguished career of nearly 50 years has spanned all aspects of mineral exploration, both in Australia and internationally, through his work in academia, industry, and Government. • In the 1980’s he worked in mineral exploration with MIM, and later for 15 years as the Chief Executive Office of the Australian Government’s geoscience agency, Geoscience Australia, where he led and managed up to 750 staff and was responsible for annual budgets ranging from $72m to $181m.• In government he was a member of the Board of Australian Marine Science & Technology Ltd for 15 years and served as Chairman of the Board for 13 of those years. He was also a member for 7 years of the Snowy Mountains Council that oversaw the running of the Snowy Mountains Hydro-electric Authority. He was Chairman of the Council for the last 5 of those years.• Neil served as a Non-executive Director of Carpentaria Exploration and was appointed Chairman of the Board in June 2014. He oversaw a strategic change in the Company from mineral exploration to mining development based on the Company's discovery of the Hawson's magnetite near Broken Hill, NSW, Australia and the transformation of the company from a junior explorer to the mine development company Carpentaria Resources. Following the good progress made with this transformation he retired from the Board in November to maintain his focus on mineral exploration activities.• Elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering in October, 1996. The election citation reads “Internationally recognised for his work in geology and the development of image processing techniques in mineral exploration.”• Awarded the Public Service Medal in 2006 for outstanding public service in the provision of geoscientific advice to government, geoscience services, industry and the public. • Awarded the Haddon Forrester King Medal from the Australian Academy of Science in 2014 for his contributions to the discovery, evaluation and exploitation of mineral deposits.• In 1981 awarded the prestigious The Lindgren Award of the Society of Economic Geologists, for his publications on the origin of the McArthur River lead-zinc mineralization in the Northern Territory, Australia.•
