Understanding the root of the issue allowed me to design, implement, and facilitate participatory meeting processes resulting in reduction in absences, bottom-up operational development and highlighting training requirements. The fun part was coaching staff from all levels to bring themselves into the meeting space with a willingness to participate. Hearing their stories, understanding their perspectives and identifying the common ground and purpose was a truly fulfilling experience. This lead to new recruitment processes, performance reviews, and the implementation of training programmes. I also streamlined operational processes resulting in higher revenue streams and the expansion of services to include recycling for flatted properties. Show less

Yet very few stay the course, many leaving years before their contracts completed. My role with SAFEA was to understand why and find a solution.I spent several years travelling across the country spending time with experts and their local host organisations to fully understand the experience. Cultural misalignment was the answer.Put simply, the difference in cultures led to dramatically different understandings of intentions, actions, and behaviours. These differences were impactful enough to lead people to break contracts and return to their home countries.Over the following years I developed and implemented a cultural exchange protocol to help localise incoming foreign nationals and internationalise local hosts. Closing the gap lead to amazing partnerships and experiences that met the needs of both arriving experts and Chinese businesses and institutions. Show less
