The role quickly developed into a sales function dealing with specifiers and contractors across the country. Alpa Lighting was very successful in the pre-recession late 80's and was now struggling with off-shore manufacturing competitors. Manufacturing OEM products for Phillips was also not enough so large contracts were the desired option. The largest I secured was a half million GBP contract with T Clarke to deliver 10,000 fittings to a Deutsche Morgan Grenfell building in the City in 1997.
