I am responsible for the software architecture and engineering for many of the group's key projects. I also mentor other members of the development team and work closely with the customer support, product manager and marketing teams to ensure our systems meet the needs of our customers.

I am responsible for the technical delivery of all digital campaign, app and web development projects within the agency. I also collaborate closely with the strategy and creative teams to come up with ideas, plan and design projects that maximise client’s return on investment.My role is very hands-on, leading the back-end development of all web based projects. I have significant experience with many PHP frameworks and off-the-shelf systems, including Laravel, Symfony, CakePHP and Zend. I also use vanilla PHP5, employing object oriented design patterns and test driven development, when appropriate. I am also responsible for the agency’s DevOps and hosting infrastructure.I lead and manage a team of front-end, back-end, flash and native app developers, and, when required, I also select and manage technical outsource partners.For efficiency, I am often solely responsible for planning and scoping the specifics of projects to achieve top level requirements, and producing robust functional specifications and wireframes for clients to review and for developers to build from. When appropriate, I also design and document other project areas, such as recommended technical architectures and hosting platforms required to meet performance, scalability, security, redundancy and disaster recovery requirements.I frequently meet with clients to communicate technical ideas, gather user, business and technical requirements and help identify opportunities for growth.

Web Application Development, System Architecture, Back end Team LeaderAs the senior programmer in a large digital marketing agency I have vast experience architecting and developing complex web sites and applications for large brands. I lead a team of 4 developers, with line management and technical mentoring responsibilities.Since 2006 I have been using the CakePHP Rapid Application Development framework, developing my company's base framework on which all our projects are built and contributing some open source code back to the community. I have presented at the official global CakePHP conference in Berlin in 2009 and am presenting again in Chicago in September 2010. I have also been asked to review a CakePHP book by the publisher, and some of my code will feature in an upcoming book currently being written by one of the core developers.I am a strong advocate of Agile Development Methodologies such as Scrum and successfully encouraged the practice as standard in the company where I work.
