I formed Cutland Consulting Limited in 2010. Having spent the previous three years starting up and growing a successful sustainability consultancy for private shareholders (despite the recession!), I decided that the time had come for me to establish my own company.It's something I'd thought about doing many times over the years, and I was delighted that things took off so quickly. In no time at all we secured a number of prestigious clients, and the workload continued to grow. A large proportion of our turnover was repeat business, with happy clients coming back to us each time they had a new requirement for strategic energy efficiency support. I'm particularly proud that throughout the 12 years of the company's existence we always maintained our early reputation for getting things done.With an extensive network of Associates, Cutland Consulting put together teams to fulfil many requirements in the sustainability and energy efficiency sectors, both highly strategic and at the technical 'coalface'.

One of the founding Directors of Inbuilt, I led the company’s low and zero carbon buildings activities. As well as making detailed technical contributions as required, my general responsibilities included strategic project direction, planning and financial control, key client liaison and business development. I maintained a particular interest in the issues surrounding the 2016 zero carbon housing agenda.

Director of BRE’s Housing Best Practice and Low Carbon Futures Centre, and Account Manager for BRE’s involvement in the Government’s Energy Efficiency Best Practice in Housing programme. There I oversaw the provision of consultancy and auditing services to both Government and private sector clients. I was responsible for the design and delivery of the energy component of BRE’s Home Inspector and DEA training programmes, and directed key Home Information Pack baseline research for Government.

A variety of positions spanning the company's birth as part of the charitable National Energy Foundation, its devolution and merging with Energy Advisory Services Ltd (software), and ending up as Director of National Energy Services Ltd (NES) with responsibility for the company's technical products and corresponding financial performance.

My first position in the energy efficiency world was with Milton Keynes Development Corporation, where I specified and managed the technical objectives and physical monitoring of the Energy Park, a large-scale low-energy housing and commercial development.
