J & L Gibbons was established in 1986 and is a registered practice with the Landscape Institute. The practice’s work ranges from urban regeneration frameworks and public park design through to the meticulous restoration of listed gardens in conservation areas.J & L Gibbons are experienced in the assessment, design, conservation and management of a wide range of historic and statutorily protected landscapes, parks and gardens. The practice has produced framework plans and strategic studies. It has a detailed understanding of complex landscape planning issues in Green Belt, conservation areas, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, development in the countryside, planning and the Historic Environment, Tree Preservation Orders, sites under ecclesiastical jurisdiction and sites with high archaeological significance.J & L Gibbons have been awarded Civic Trust, Landscape Institute, RIBA, Royal Town Planning Institute, Sustain, Hackney Design Award and Green Flag Awards. Edward Square, a Green Flag project in Islington was heralded as an exemplar by CABE Space.Winner of the Landscape Institute President's Award 2011.

Phytology is an artist & community led project exploring the use, value, resilience and function of wildness within urban ecosystems.Launched at Bethnal Green Nature Reserve in 2014, Phytology is part physic garden; part cultural institute; part urban wilderness; and a platform for collaboration between artists, musicians, writers and a wide variety of community groups.
