The Challenge will task students to solve the world’s most difficult problems identified by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Students from all levels and all majors at Western Michigan University will compete in self-selected teams over an entire academic year to provide real solutions to critical issues that align with their personal interests.A major driver behind the Challenge is an urgency voiced by students to be sustainability problem solvers well before starting their professional careers. Additionally, 3 out of 4 college-bound high school students say that sustainability offerings will be a factor in their choice of the institution to attend.No academic credit will be earned for participating in the Challenge, but there will be financial prizes for top finishers.
