He has a proven ability to develop new product strategies that support business, financial and community objectives. Foote has managed and developed several websites from inception to launch. He is an expert at identifying, negotiating and managing strategic relationships. He has extensive knowledge of print and digital media and strategic communications. Foote has been inducted into the prestigious National Association of Black Journalists Hall of Fame, recognizing his numerous accomplishments over his storied career. UNT’s Mayborn School of Journalism also selected him as a recipient of its top award, the C.E. Shuford Hall of Honor. He has been recognized as a new media pioneer and expert on digital strategy whose work has been published extensively. He has worked as journalist (The Miami Herald and Washington Post); a diversity executive (American Society of Newspaper Editors); a sales manager and digital strategies leader (The Dallas Morning News and A.H. Belo Corp.).; founder and COO of Tom Joyner’s BlackAmericaWeb.com and later, Joyner’s director of communication for all of his businesses, including the Tom Joyner Foundation. As a thought leader, he also is principal of Foote Communications LLC, an integrated communications, marketing and public relations firm. He also helps prepare students to become more knowledgeable and technologically savvy about digital media tools, including blogging and working as "backpack journalists". He also is the director of the Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference, billed as one of the nation's premier events for journalists, authors, editors, agents, and publishers. The annual invites the nation's great storytellers whose ideas, often borne in the pursuit of a routine idea, have changed lives, changed institutions and inspired journalists to go beyond the obvious to dig deep, circumventing obstacles from officials and reluctant sources. The nearly three-dozen speakers from the nation’s top media outlets participate in this high-energy, interactive, engaging and educational workshops. Past presenters include reporters and editors from such news outlets at The Dallas Morning News, The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Atlantic, The Los Angeles Times and such authors as Gay Talese, Ira Glass, Isabel Wilkerson, and Joyce Carol Oates.
