I'm fascinated by the challenges facing society, and enjoy working with a range of people and interests to find solutions to these complex problems. I'm enthusiastic that the private sector potentially offers promising solutions for achieving societal progress and fundamental change; combining sustainability and the business bottom line. I've lived in tropical forests under extreme conditions for over 10 years, doing a PhD on the conservation management of the Sumatran tiger, surveying for the elusive Sumatran rhino, and assisting field protection and market-linked law enforcement efforts for endangered species.I've followed a non-standard career pathway, gaining experience in diverse fields: corporate sustainability, stakeholder engagement, strategic management consulting, risk and reputation management, environment, conservation, social development, wildlife and natural resources management, forestry, strategic planning, forest carbon, law enforcement, communications: public speaking, popular and scientific writing.In summary, I'm driven by challenges wherever they can be found - whether in the rainforest, at the village level, or within complex corporates. I have an eye for identifying pathways through complicated, multi-stakeholder interests and have wide experience of this in multi-cultural environments at both a grass roots and senior management level.
