I am excited to step into the role of Director of "Portal", Trinity Innovation & Enterprise. TCD's new unit is a gateway to access Trinity's Innovation community and its world-renowned research, innovation and enterprise activities. I am responsible for driving impactful industry engagement, fostering cutting-edge consultancy partnerships, and advancing entrepreneurial education. This dynamic unit focuses on bridging the gap between academia and industry, enabling collaborative research, knowledge exchange, and creating real-world solutions to global challenges.Portal brings together TCD's capabilities in driving Industry Engagement, Consultancy, Entrepreneurship Skills & Expertise, Entrepreneurial Education and the management of physical spaces that nurture all these activities. As part of this role, I am also overseeing the development and management of a new innovation and enterprise hub designed to facilitate collaboration between students, faculty, and industry partners. The Startup Development Manager supports Trinity's engagement with the creation of new businesses. The role includes interfacing with Trinity staff and students who are establishing new companies, interfacing with enterprise agencies who support the commercialisation of intellectual property and new company development; engaging with entrepreneurs, business partners, angel investors and venture capital companies in relation to the acceleration and funding of new business and the development of linkages with incubators and acclerators who may host or enable new businesses. In addition, the Startup Development Manager engages with companies who are interested in locating at Trinity — including the Trinity Technology Enterprise Campus (TTEC). There is also direct engagement with existing Trinity activities including the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Hub which will incorporate the Innovation Academy, Launchbox and other entrepreneurship orientated programmes. The Startup Development Manager is the front of house face for Trinity in relation to campus companies —and spin-in companies and all new companies who are based on or are working with Trinity’s research community to accelerate their pathway to success.
