I am CEO at UK Screen Alliance, which in partnership with Animation UK is the trade body which represents more than 190 companies in VFX, post-production, animation, production services and studios. My role is to be an advocate for the industry and to influence government and its agencies to optimise the business environment for our members, particularly in the areas of tax incentives and skills policy. In 2023, I was appointed to the Creative Industries Council, a government convened body that is chaired by the Secretary of State for DCMS. There, I represent our members and the wider film & TV industry, but as chair of the working group on apprenticeships, technical education and skills, my remit extends across the whole creative sector.Other commitees where I represent our members include, the High End TV Council (where I chair the Post & VFX sub group), the British Film Commission's national advisory board and their business subgroup, Film London's filming executive task force, the BFI Skills Task Force, the BFI's research unit advisory board, and the StoryFutures Academy advisory board. I am also a non-executive director of Access:VFX, an organisation that I helped found, to be focussed on increasing diversity and inclusion in VFX and animation.I was a prime mover in the setting up of facilities trade body, UK Post (now known as UK Screen Alliance) in 2004 for which I was an elected board member for many years before being appointed as CEO in 2016. I feel a strong affinity with the UK Screen Alliance membership, having first joined the TV industry in 1979, and then working at MD/CEO or owner level within well-known post production houses in Soho for more than 20 years. I established both Azimuth and Frontier Post from scratch and grew them into sizeable businesses with enviable portfolios of clients in the broadcast, corporate, music and on-air promo sectors. Before my management career, I received numerous prime-time broadcast credits on most mainstream channels as an offline/online editor, for programmes such as Horizon, QED, Arena, Ground Force and the Grierson Awards. I was one of the early pioneers of non-linear editing, being the first person in the UK to cut a long-form documentary on a Lightworks.
Listed skills include Post Production, Broadcast, Television, Hd Video, and 36 others.
