Neil led the Building Structures team in Leeds growing the team from 10 to 30 engineers over this period.Neil was responsible for: - - Team operations, resourcing, line management and recruitment. - Business development in the Leeds and Yorkshire region. - Financial monitoring and performance of all projects in the Leeds team. - Technical training and skills development. - Commercial leadership for a significant portfolio of projects ranging from c£20k - c£10m direct income.Neil led a programme of digital transformation across the UK buildings regional teams with the goal of transforming the way Arup deliver core engineering and design service to clients using digital tools and techniques. In particular, Neil was focused on supporting innovators, intrapreneurs and early adopters with funding and technical support to scale their impact whilst also creating forums for them to share knowledge to the wider business.As part of this role, his responsibilities included: -- Leading digital transformation across Arup Buildings UK (17 UK offices, c1300 staff).- Securing and managing an annual digital automation investment budget of c£1m.- Managing component sub-programmes to encourage innovation at different target levels.- Enabling a mix of grassroots initiatives, strategic automations and new service lines.- Interfacing with senior leadership, group and portfolio stakeholders.- Project identification, triage, budget approval, governance oversight, value capture and reporting.- Leading Arup external engagement with Open Innovations Leeds (ODI), The University of Leeds Nexus, North Invest and various start-ups / spinouts.
