Teaching both environmental engineering lecture and lab.Graduate Research Assistant at for Dr. Olya Keen, investigating the degradation of glutaraldehyde in hydraulic fracturing flowback wastewater with O3, O3/H2O2 and ultraviolet radiation treatment techniques. This research will increase the effectiveness of reuse techniques, increasing the feasibility of treating wastewater onsite of operations and further lessening the harmful effects to the environment and preserving freshwater, which is used at an increasing amount in the natural gas and oil extraction process.

Received an assistantship funded by Duke Energy in which I was a co-author of "White Paper: Preliminary Evaluation of Offshore Transport, Utilization and Geologic Storage of Carbon Dioxide North Carolina and South Carolina Waters" with Dr. Gerald Hill, Dr. John Bender and Patricia Berry. I am currently researching shale gas in North Carolina and forming my thesis around this controversial topic.

I participated in conducting experiments for senior faculty and staff at the facility. I participated in numerous field work expeditions with lab members. I set up, conducted and analyzed experiments on oyster health and reproduction. Exper-iments lasted between 1 and 3 months. I polished my lab skills by completing tasks alone and used a wide range of equipment such as: light microscopes, magnetic mixers, scales, beakers, water input and filtration systems, organic extraction from sediment samples, holding tank operations and boating operations. Working in this capacity, I honed my analytical skills by rigorously following the scientific method and developed a passion for attention to detail. My position was deleted due to lack of grant funding.
