The South Australian Local Government Officers' Association (SALGOA) Southern & Hills Branch Incorporated (“the Branch”) objectives are to provide a central organisation for all levels of Council, anyone who works within Local Government and related organisations and Industry Partners to promote co-operation, mutual assistance and good fellowship between them and throughout the LGA within South Australia.The Branch arranges conferences, meetings (both metro and regional) at least 4 times a year (quarterly) for discussing subjects relating to Local Government and Industry. Topics which are of interest to our members include design, civil construction, management, environmental issues and plant maintenance. We also print and distribute from time to time, to our members, papers especially prepared for the Branch and any records relating to the Branch. We endeavour to generally to do all things necessary to promote and protect the interest and welfare of all our members and to assist them in the discharge of their functions and duties.The Branch is not a Union or Industrial Association as within the meaning of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, it is however a non-profit organisation with funds raised by annual subscriptions and memberships.The Executive Management Committee is made up of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer and two or three other members from the Associate membership sector and such number of other members as may be determined by the Annual General Meeting of the Branch each year in accordance with the Constitution.

As the Traffic Assets Consultant at the City of Adelaide Council, I am currently responsible for 133 traffic signal sites within the council area with an estimated replacement cost of $30 million. As part of my role I'm also responsible for all traffic control devices within the City including signage, pavement marking and traffic islands, such as medians, roundabouts, etc. I have recently been invovled in developing a Transportation Asset Management Plan including roads, bridges, kerb & water, footpaths & traffic signals/control devices looking at the state of the assets, long term financial plans, capital works renewal programs & how we can effecitvely sustain these critical assets now & into the future.In additional to this I also get involved in providing advice & recommendations on major state and local projects including O-Bahn City Access Project and the Festival Plaza Redevelopment. Other projects have included Victoria Square Redevelopment, Adelaide Oval Redevelopment, New Royal Adelaide Hospital & Convention Centre Redevelopment relating to traffic signal infrastructure, traffic management, asset management & overall road safety for all users.I have a passion for road safety and aim to use the fundamental principles of road safety in everything that I do. This is one reason I became a road safety auditor, a road safety audit has the greatest potential for improving safety & is most cost-effective when undertaken prior to a road design project being built.I'm also a great believer in sharing experiences, knowledge, skills and lessons learnt, which is why networking is so important. This is why I'm the current Vice President of the South Australian Local Government Supervisory Officers Association (SALGSOA) Southern and Hills Branch, which is aimed at all levels of Council/Local Government as well as related private industry promoting teamwork, mutal assistance, co-operation & comradery at all levels in Local Government, Industry and beyond.

The Australian Institute of Traffic Planning and Management Incorporated (AITPM) SA Branch provides a central point of reference for practitioners in traffic and transport planning, management, traffic operations, traffic engineering, land-use planning, social science, economics, freight, road safety, sustainable transport and environmental matters associated with generation of traffic for the safe and efficient movement of people and goods. The AITPM is an association of people practising in these fields.As past SA Branch Treasurer I was responsible for the finances associated in running the meetings, technical forums, seminars and workshops in relation to venue hire, catering and other associated costs which need to be paid at the State level on a monthly basis.

Manage the delivery of Council's traffic and transport projects whilst assisting with resident enquiries.Assess and advise on the traffic, pedestrian and engineering aspects of private/Council/Government development projects/applications and special activities in accordance with Council's policies and strategies and State Legislation.Detailed knowledge and experience of Acts and Regulations in Local Government, Traffic Management, Line Marking Standards, Parking Standards, Traffic and Car Parking Design and other relevant Australian Standards and Austroads Guidelines.
