Entrepreneur - I enjoy building new ventures and assisting others in developing their ideas.My first startup Computermatic a computer services bureau, which I started with one partner and one programmer in 1972 was listed on the JSE in 1985. I facilitated several mergers and acquisitions, including companies such as Bell and Howell, Micrographix and Business Land, resulting in 4 listed companies on the JSE. After immigrating to Australia in 1987, I formed a start up computer software company with my cousin Derek Miller called System Builder Development (SBD) to continue the 4GL System Builder and SB+.In November 1995 System Builder Inc was acquired by (Unidata Inc). I was one of the principal architects behind the merger of Unidata and a Nasdaq listed company (Vmark), which became Ardent Software - one of the top 100 computer companies in the world at that time. Ardent subsequently merged with Informix to create one of the top 5 largest database supply companies in the world and was ultimately acquired by IBM for over $2.5 billion. Early investor in SEEK, PC Tools, NanoSonic, Beeologics, YBR, EnVizi, AAM LLC, Pollenizer, Ignition Labs, Blackbird, Safety Culture, Calreply, TPG, Quadpay and Startmate.Since 1999 I have been involved with my own venture capital enterprise and residential and commercial property development. A startup venture with my co-founders Tony Surtees, Robert Kawalsky and Adam Schuck was Zeetings, which we sold to Canva in 2018. This was Canva's first acquisition, which assisted Canva in hosting over 2 billion presentations.I was the chairman of Envizi for 10 years - which together with David Solsky and his admirable team, was successful internationally and was sold to IBM in 2022.I was the chairman of AAM LLC, an Arizona-based Home Owners Management Company (HOA), for over 16 years. AAM employed over 1,000 employees and managed over 700 communities across 12 states. We sold AAM LLC to Associa in 2022, which is now the largest HOA in the USA.I am involved in several startups, on some advisory boards and an investor in several funds.Together with Alon Novy (one of Australia's finest tech entrepreneurs), we have co-founded Collabra "Abra collabra, it is magic". It is an AI platform to facilitate collaboration between humans and bots, bots and bots and bots and humans. Collabra allows developers and end users to create anything from simple to complex processes to enhance business and streamline everyday processes. The potential cost savings are significant, and productivity is exponentially enhanced.
