Initially supporting a bespoke remote process automation application for a large bank to streamline and automate complex and error-prone processes and reduce case time by a factor of 10. I then worked on a new application (SmartScan - C#, SQL Server, Angular) to scan large file stores for personally identifiable information, presenting this information on a dashboard. Most of my time with Maximise IT was developing a new desktop application (SmartFlow - C#, SQL Server, WPF), designed for building custom workflows and automations to manage and automate processes within a business. To help development of SmartFlow, I wrote Azure DevOps pipelines to build and create installable releases of the application. I helped create a web-based dashboard (SmartSight - C#, SQL Server, Blazor front-end) to provide reporting on user and workflow activity in SmartFlow. Additionally, during the first stages of SmartFlow development, I was instrumental in migrating from SVN source code management to Azure DevOps, and for moving from triple estimation of tasks to agile practices based on Scrum.

Initially involved in new development and maintenance of the large AMS Suite of software, working in VB6 and SQL Server. Then transitioned over to the newly developed IMS Suite using C#, SQL Server, and Silverlight for the front end. More recently, I have been working on Alterian's new HTML5/Angular Campaign Management system, again in C# and SQL Server, developing complex APIs and their associated database procedures for use by the UI team. Third-line support and maintenance, in a DevOps environment, of the older technologies to investigate and resolve customer’s critical issues in a timely manner.

Maintained, extended and enhanced software used worldwide in the ophthalmology industry to screen for diabetic retinopathy within the eye. Written in Visual Basic 6 connected to a Microsoft Access database, extensions have been developed in both Visual Basic 6 and Visual Basic .NET using COM Interop functionality for communication. Responsible for interpreting customer requirements, generation of specifications and development of wide ranging aspects of the application. Including connections to cameras, use of formal standards to communicate with diverse hospital systems, bespoke modifications based on customer requirements and general software maintenance.

Co-founder of a visual effects company aimed at producing high-quality digital imagery for the film industry. Responsible for all technical aspects of the company including systems maintenance, creation of an enhanced rendering pipeline like the one created for MillFilm and numerous tools to aid in the film production process. All development was carried out in Visual Basic .NET and made extensive use of the .NET Framework. Involved in the generation of previsualisation and final shot work for several major motion pictures.

Designed and implemented systems infrastructure software to manage the network rendering of images for major motion pictures. Created software in Visual Basic 6 with an Access database, using TCP sockets to streamline data transfer. Also created software, which used MS Windows Management Instrumentation libraries, to monitor the status of network usage and aid in maximising efficiency of the rendering pipeline. In recognition of this, my name was placed in the credits of a major motion picture.

Solely responsible for analysing bugs and creating patches and fixes, then testing and issuing new releases of the specialist in-house software incorporating these patches. Also, responsible for the design and development of a new application catering to the after-sales market. Both applications were written in Visual Basic 6 using the MS Access database platform. Heavily involved in the conception of an entirely new software suite based on a previous release, but using 3-tier COM architecture, Visual Basic 6 and SQL Server. Responsible for gathering initial requirements through to design and implementation of completed modules.

Team Leader responsible for the design and implementation of software to aid in the automation of car body shops, enabling the entire process from repair quotations to invoicing to be recorded electronically. Written in Visual Basic 4 with MS Access and later converted to Visual Basic 5.

Responsibilities included the design and implementation of utilities and plug-ins for the Autocad Design software. Additional programs relating to construction engineering were also written. All programming was in Microsoft Visual Basic 3.
