My current focus is using AI to help make retail store experiences more like digital experiences.As a venture capitalist, I am currently the managing director of NTT Docomo Ventures which has several international funds ($500M) under management. I also manage Docomo Capital a $100M US based fund dedicated to mobile, cloud and consumer services. I led our investments in Centrify, Couchbase (BASE), Influitive, Mist Systems (JNPR), and Coinbase (COIN). Centrify was acquired by Thoma Bravo for a profitable exit in 2018. Some selected current investments include Alation, Wasabi, TileDB, Validic and Zippin. Previously I built Bay Partners Software as a Service and digital media practices. I led Bay's investment in Eloqua (ORCL) and in Cornerstone onDemand (CSOD). On the consumer side, I led Bay's investment in Like.com (acquired by Google), Eventful (acquired by CBS Local), LiveMedia and Hiplogic.Before venture, I was an operating executive in technology companies of different sizes. I was fortunate to be part of the founding team of Afara Websystems which was acquired by Sun Microsystems. Afara's technology is the foundation of a multi-billion server product line at Oracle. I led product teams at Good Technology, RealNetworks and Sun Microsystems where I launched several new products.
